Now is the time for the old industrial area in Malmö to become a green and attractive city district: Nyhamnen. Wihlborgs already owns a number of properties in the area. Nyhamnen is the area north of Malmö Central Station, stretching to where Västkustvägen begins in the east, and includes Posthusplatsen, Ångbåtsbron, Stockholmskajen and Frihamnskajen.
Totally new city district in Malmö
The proximity to the city centre and the central station has led to the Nyhamnen area sometimes being referred to as southern Sweden’s most central location. The City of Malmö has great ambitions for the area, which is intended to be a compact, green and diverse city district. 6,000 new housing units and 13,000 new workplaces are being created here, along with schools, preschools and parks. There are plans for pedestrian and bicycle bridges over the railway yard to connect Nyhamnen with other parts of the city centre and, in the long-term, a pedestrian bridge is planned to provide a direct connection to the train platforms.

A couple of hundred meters from the central station is Wihlborgs office building Sirius with 7,000 square meters of state-of-the-art, flexible office. Wihlborgs already owns Slagthuset, Magasinet on Hans Michelsensgatan, Kolga 4 on Jörgen Kocksgatan and Östersjön, Söderhavet and Polstjärnen 1 and 2 along Carlsgatan.
