Wihlborgs affirms first place in global sustainability rankings

Wihlborgs has once again been awarded five out of five stars in the global ESG benchmark GRESB and secures first place in the category of diversified listed real estate companies in Europe.

GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) is the leading international assessment of real estate companies’ and funds’ sustainability performance, focusing on what is most relevant for investors. A high GRESB score is a clear indicator of both sustainable management and long-term value creation.

In the standing investments category, Wihlborgs achieved 90 points, up from 88 in 2024, compared with an average of 79. In the development category, Wihlborgs scored 93 points, slightly lower than in 2024 (97), explained by a larger project volume not yet certified at the time of reporting. The average score in this category is 88.

At the same time, GRESB highlights a positive trend across the real estate sector, with more companies improving their results. Wihlborgs’ top position is therefore both a testament to its own work and to the industry’s collective progress.

“We are continuously developing new ways to reduce climate impact and improve transparency in our reporting. This allows us to clearly track the effects of our initiatives while also identifying new areas for improvement. GRESB, which measures both our actual performance at property level and how we manage our sustainability work, is an important tool and validation in this process,” says Lisa Östling, Head of ESG at Wihlborgs.

“We cannot compromise on sustainability, even when other issues dominate public debate. Wihlborgs’ top ranking is confirmation that we take responsibility, and I am proud that we can serve as a role model. But what matters most is that the entire industry raises its ambitions, which this year’s results clearly show. That is how we achieve real impact,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
