Wihlborgs investing in solar cell system

In 2013, Wihlborgs’ first solar cell system under its own management will be installed in Berga Centrum, Helsingborg. The system covers an area of 380 m2 and will generate an estimated 53,500 kWh of electricity per year.

“Today, we do not have any major experience of solar cell systems. On the other hand, I believe it’s important for us to participate in the development of energy from renewable sources”, says Anders Jarl, CEO, Wihlborgs Fastigheter AB.

Wihlborgs also views the system as part of the Company’s internal training and development process in the environmental sector. The system will be used as a source of baseline data for any more solar cell systems in the future.

The electricity generated will be used in-house, in the centre. Any surplus will be sold to the Öresundskraft power company, which will also manage and sell related electricity certificates.

“This shows that the power companies have become more and more positively disposed towards this type of power generation, and this may pave the way to another area of profitability. But that’s something we’ll have to evaluate”, comments Anders Jarl.

Investing in a solar cell system of our own is part of Wihlborgs’ model for sustainable business.
