Wihlborgs redeems leasehold rights in central Malmö

Wihlborgs has redeemed the leasehold rights to Börshuset 1 and Flundran 1 through an exchange transaction with Malmö Municipality.


In the same exchange transaction, Malmö Municipality is redeeming the buildings in the leasehold property Gäddan 6, a property that is of strategic importance ahead of the proposed development of the district on Universitetsholmen. The parties will take possession of the properties on
1 February 2013. Wihlborgs is paying the sum of SEK 15 million in settlement. 

“Owning a property with leasehold rights always involves some uncertainty as regards, for example, the future size of the rent. Wihlborgs is taking a long-term view in its actions and wants to have control over its costs," says Anders Jarl, CEO of Wihlborgs Fastigheter. “Ownership also makes any decisions on future development easier.”
