Wihlborgs relocates head office to Gängtappen

During the summer, Wihlborgs is relocating its head office to the Gängtappen property in Dockan. The company’s Malmö organisation and its central staff functions, some 60 employees in total, will move into the historic building.  

Wihlborgs’ current office is located at Dockplatsen and the new office is therefore only a few hundred metres away.   

“As Wihlborgs has grown, the office at Dockplatsen, which we have had for ten years, gradually became too cramped. We also want to create a state-of-the-art office that we can utilise for inspiration and as a showroom for our tenants who are facing a move,” says Anders Jarl, CEO of Wihlborgs.   

Gängtappen was built in 1958 as the head office for Kockums. The property was emptied in the summer of 2015 when SAAB Kockums moved to new premises in Dockan. Wihlborgs then undertook a total renovation of the property and the building’s current tenants now include Länsförsäkringar Skåne, FEW Agency and Additude.  

“Gängtappen is a fantastic building with timeless architecture that feels as relevant today as when the building was constructed. The tenants who have already moved into Gängtappen have an amazing work environment, so I am convinced that the move will also provide us with new energy, efficiency and creativity,” says Mikael Strand, Regional Director and Project Manager for the move. 

Wihlborgs’ offices will be located on the second and third floors. Vacant premises with space for a few more tenants still remain on the fourth to sixth floors. Following the move, Wihlborgs’ current 1,000 m² office at Dockplatsen will become available for a new tenant.
