An environmentally certified knowledge hub

Wihlborgs’ new property Posthornet in Lund is environmentally certified to the highest level, SGBC Gold. One of the new tenants is Leendecentralen, the Swedish Dental Service in Skåne’s new centre for oral health. The 4,800 modern square metres gathers general and specialist dentists into a knowledge arena for professional development, research and new techniques, as well as a head office.

Investing in reduced travel

The environmental consciousness at Leendecentralen is apparent as soon as you step inside. The natural lighting and climate control are regulated automatically by solar panels on the roof. Most of the décor is recycled, all the material is non-toxic, and living walls of moss clean the air and provide good acoustics. All to contribute to a comfortable and long-term sustainable workplace environment. Here we meet Gustaf Persson, Building and Security Manager and the person responsible for the Swedish Dental Service in Skåne’s move to Posthornet.

“We wanted to create a centre of knowledge within dentistry. By collecting clinical work, research and training in a central location, all of our 68 clinics in Skåne can take advantage of the resources here at Leendecentralen. There’s a high level of accessibility to all of Skåne thanks to our location next to Lund Central Station, but we’ve also invested in technology to stream videos to clinics for educational purposes, which has environmental benefits in the form of reduced travel.”

Environmental profile strengthens the brand

The Swedish Dental Service in Skåne has a high environmental profile in its daily operations, where one of their most important contributions is improved oral health. Fewer cavities means reduced environmental impact in the form of limited use of chemicals and disposable material, as well as reduced travel. “The comprehensive approach to environmental issues was one leading reason why the Swedish Dental Service in Skåne chose Posthornet for Leendecentral,” explains Gustaf Persson.

“We think it’s great that we could move into a property with the highest possible environmental classification, as this helps enhance our own environmental efforts as well as our brand. I’m also convinced that the central location combined with the fact we offer an environmentally and visually exciting workplace is important from an employee perspective.”

Flexible floor space

Leendecentralen is unique from a European perspective. As a knowledge-driven spearhead in dentistry, Leendecentralen helps increase competence among the 1,400 employees at the Swedish Dental Service in Skåne. The investment is long-term and therefore it was a priority to find appropriate premises with high flexibility.

“We had a good dialogue with Wihlborgs throughout the entire moving process about our needs regarding new premises. This resulted in well-designed spaces that can easily be adapted to different needs. You can only predict so much of the future, and so it’s important to be able to adjust the space according to operations. I’m sure that’s possible at this location,” concludes Gustaf Persson.
